My story began when I was in highschool. I didn’t care much about music. I just listened to the charts, picked out the most catchy ones and added them to my MP3 and that was all. So I was, you say, ‘mainstream’ back then.
At the end of highschool, while I was studying like crazy for the university entrance exam, I discovered Keane. It was after lunch. My brother and I was watching Grey’s Anatomy and Somewhere Only We Know came on. Just some snippets of the song but the tunes and the lyrics were good so it was enough for him and me to search for that singer (yeah that singer). Then we knew about Keane. I was sure I’d listened to SOWK somewhere before and the name Keane was quite familiar but I couldn’t remember (plus they were not very popular here in Vietnam. Even Coldplay. Hah!). So my brother listened to SOWK, Everybody’s Changing, Is It Any Wonder? (only the singles :’(…..but somehow his favourite is Pretend That You’re Alone!) and thus, after some time, the fandom ended for him. Keane is just some catchy band for him I think.
Back to my story, I listened to the whole album Hopes And Fears. At first I didn’t have any feelings for it. Fortunately, my computer broke down. I decided not to fix the computer as I needed to concentrate on the exam anyway. And yeah, all I had were H&F and other crappy songs on the MP3. My only entertainment between periods of hard work was this album. I even listened to it when I went to sleep (just put it on repeat and forgot to turn it off until 3 or 4 in the morning. I knew it was harmful to my health but I couldn’t resist ok? :P). And I realized that he more I listened to the songs, the more I became addicted. They were so amazing. Keane’s lyrics and music went straight to my heart, tore it apart and healed it at the same time. Truly amazing.
And my love for Keane began just like that. I must thank the computer LOL. It sure did me a big favour.
Now I’m here as another Keane fan :’).
Thanks to Keane, I know that I should actually listen to any artists before judging them and that I shouldn’t care too much about what’s cool or ‘mainstream’ (still don’t understand this word. WTF is it anyway?). Just enjoy the music and enjoy the happiness it brings to me. Therefore, my love for music has grown again.
Here’re some of my favourite artists (I’m still discovering though):
Coldplay (my first love for alternative music)
Florence and The Machine
Gwen Stefani (haven’t listened to her for a while now)
KEANE (yeah my all time favourite! No need to say!)
Lana Del Rey
Mt. Desolation
Mumford & Sons
She & Him (haven’t listened to this lovely band for a while now)
(Look how they are connected LOL)
I don’t often watch movies and TV series. Maybe I’m too lazy or maybe I’m scared I can’t handle the fangirling effect LOL. Anyway, I love BBC’s Sherlock and Boston Legal :).
My favourite actor must be James Spader because he’s such a wonderful and talented actor! Really love him and William Shatner in Boston Legal. Perfect couple haha!
Oh you’re still here? Thank you!!! But I think it’s enough for now. If you want to know more about me or just want someone to talk to, I’m always here. Just send me an ask ;) I love Tumblr. It’s such a great place :D.
